I love and appreciate every gift I received for my birthday, because I know that each one came from people I love, who love me, and wanted to make my day special.
Today, I want to show you a gift I received from my mother-in-law.
Calling it a "gift" doesn't do it justice...it was a labor of love.
She's made each of her grandchildren and her daughter a handmade quilt, with designs in the blocks that represent something they love.
Remember, I shared the other day, how I broke my favorite ironstone gravy boat, and comforted myself by purchasing this charming little pitcher. Imagine my surprise then, when I opened my gift from her to find that she chose pitchers and wash basins for my quilt and pillowcases. I knew she was making one for me, because many months ago, she asked what colors I wanted for my bedroom. I told her ticking and white, but beyond that, I had no idea what it would look like, or what she would sew in each block. She couldn't have made a better choice.
