I told you a few weeks ago that I'm more productive when
I choose one theme at a time to work on and I really focused on my
theme this week. Anything in my workshop that I didn't have
a "plan" for became a candidate for becoming a chalkboard,
because you can turn just about anything into a chalkboard.
First I'll show you the latest ones I've created, then some past ones.
Originally, this wooden piece was the top of an antique side table.
The pretty scalloped shape makes it perfect for a chalkboard.
Here it is now. Notice how I cheated and used Picmonkey to "write" the message.
I am NOT a chalkboard artist! It has sold.
I added tiny painted embellishments on the top corners and distressed it.
I love making chalkboards out of old pie tins, so I made 2 of them. They are available HERE with a choice of black or white grosgrain ribbon hangers.
I was looking at Pinterest while making this chalkboard and instead of writing "Pie"...I wrote "Pin"!
I didn't realize it until I was editing the photo and had to fix it and take a new photo.

I remembered Becky @ Beyond the Picket Fence's
chalkboard suitcase, so I decided I'd turn mine into a hanging chalkboard sign,
using just the front piece of the suitcase. I'll probably make another sign
out of the back piece, or possibly a dog bed.
I dry brushed CeCe Caldwell's "smokey mountain" chalk paint on the whole thing,
then distressed some of the edges. I waxed it also to protect the finish.
I painted a small whiteboard with chalkboard paint, distressed the edges, and attached it.
I have 2 of these pieces that were salvaged from a broken antique kitchen table.
(this unpainted one is available in my shop HERE).

The other one became a "Village Mercantile" chalkboard.
It is available HERE.
I've shown you many of the rest of these chalkboards in the past.
All of them are sold (except the headboard chalkboard at the bottom).
These pieces are all salvage from an antique sewing machine table.

I turned this projector screen into a chalkboard...and misspelled the word "projector".
I told you I'm not a chalkboard artist...or a good speller, apparently.

I added a chalkboard with an old measuring tape around it on this wooden tool tote.

And here we have a cookie sheet, wooden hanger & biscuit tin that
all became chalkboards.

And...the headboard I showed you not long ago.

What unusual things have you turned into chalkboards?
I'd love to see your chalkboard projects, so feel free to
share any that YOU have made - doesn't matter how long ago.
Blessings,
Angie

ReplyDeleteLove all of your chalkboards!! What a fabulous selection! I have only made tiny little plant marker chalk boards mainly because they seem so overdone, but I don't feel that way at all about yours! Each so unique and wonderful! Thanks for the inspiration!
