One of my favorite things about driving back country roads,
is coming across old country churches.
My daughter and I went to the flea market
WAYYYY out in the country a few weeks ago,
and saw a few wonderful, old rural churches.
I couldn't tell whether this one still holds services or not,
but it sure is a beauty.

A 127 year old Baptist church sits right behind the Methodist church,
offering services only on the first 2 Sundays each month.
Can't you just imagine folks gathering outside those
doors after the morning service?
I can envision men laughing and talking about their crops,
women fanning themselves, and children running
around the lawn, while their mothers call out for them
not to get dirty.
The bell no longer tolls from the steeple,
but there are 2 of them on the church's front lawn.
I took the photo of this church back in June when I
was visiting my family in New Mexico.
My sister lives just across the road from it and I think
she's really fortunate to live so close to hear
the church bell ring.

As lovely as an old country church is to see -
better yet is to go inside and worship with others!

They're gorgeous! In all my travels across the country, the thing that stands out the most are the gorgeous churches and their steeples. We just don't see too many like that around here. Thanks for sharing Angie.

Old churches are a favorite of mine. You shared some beauties! The steeples, the belfries, hearing the bells toll - such wonderful places to gather and worship.

I love old churches--that first one is especially charming. I love the sound of church bells. I appreciate we have a lot of churches within hearing distance of our house :)
