"Stop hoarding and start using", was my motto
over the weekend and it was raining anyway,
so I got busy. My house isn't much cleaner, but I
did come up with some projects to make a dent in the
fabric and paper scraps that are threatening to overrun my house and office.
I love fabric scraps and save nearly all of them,
but I don't own a sewing machine.
I needed a project that didn't require one, so I made
some farmhouse wall hangings from flour sack towel remnants.

I love frayed edges on fabric.
And then there are paper scraps.
I can't even begin to tell you how many antique pages
I have overflowing the drawers in my office.
If I make about 300 hundred of these, I might
get my stash down to a reasonable level.
The cow prints are now available for $17 in my shop

These pages are over 140 years old and came from
some 1860's and 70's Peterson's magazines. Love the
variety of "browning" the pages have.
I sold most of the magazines that were complete, but there were a lot
of them that were already torn apart, so they were perfect for crafting with.
If pages have images on them, I save those pages for other projects,
but these pages had text only, so it was nice to find a use for them.
I've got one hanging on a chalkboard in my entryway,
but I think they would look really pretty to decorate
a fall or winter mantel also, or as a wedding backdrop.

and come with a vintage metal clothes hanger to display it on.
I'll be making more of these with other images on them also.

ReplyDeleteThe cow print is adorable! And the bunting banner, too... it's hard to believe that a few sheets of paper, doing absolutely nothing for anyone tucked in a box or drawer, can be transformed into a lovely, dimensional decorative piece! How clever you are!
