There is always room on the porch for one more friend,
and today's visitor is one who constantly inspires me.
Welcome, Korrie from Red Hen Home!
I absolutely love everything Korrie creates and I was fortunate a few months ago to win
a giveaway for one of her handmade signs. I requested the word, "Timeless" and it is beautiful!
It's the perfect sign to compliment my love of old clocks and my growing collection of them.
Make sure to visit her shop to see the signs she has available, or contact her
at RedHenHome@gmail.com to inquire about her signs.
One look at her blog header will give you a small idea of the creativity and vision she has.

I’m Korrie from Red Hen Home, where I blog about furniture projects, home improvements, and custom canvas and beadboard art! I would love to have you stop by and visit sometime.
Today I will share one of my most recent furniture transformations.
Last month I came across this piece at Deseret Industries (Utah’s version of Goodwill), and knew it had to be mine! I could tell from its construction that this was not a mass-produced piece. I’m pretty sure someone made this replica dry sink with their own two hands and a lot of tender loving care. The finish was worn and faded, and the door panels were coming loose, but it was a solid oak piece with a lot of potential.
I wanted to make this piece look like it had been around since Great-Grandma’s time! I started with some homemade chalk paint in a pretty aqua color (left over from this cedar chest). I slapped it on pretty quickly, unconcerned with lumps (of which there were many in a months-old chalk paint), or complete coverage!
Next I painted a layer of creamy white homemade chalk paint. I sanded vigorously to show some of the aqua paint underneath, as well as to expose the wood in places.
…And I swapped out the original handles for some slightly-more delicate looking ones,
painted to match the cabinet.
I love how a little paint changed this piece from looking “outdated” to “vintage!”
There is a difference, no matter what my husband thinks!
