Quarter Curtains

Well, technically, this isn't a curtain -
it's a valance,
but it did only cost a quarter to make.

A few weeks ago, I brought home
a bunch of vintage linens
from one of my favorite thrift stores.

The set of 3 linens I used for the valance
were marked 25 cents.
All of these items were that ridiculously inexpensive.
The most I paid was $2 for a ticking pillow
and there was another set of 10 assorted cloth napkins for $2.
See why it's one of my favorite thrift stores?!

I turned 2 of the cloth napkins
into this stenciled pillow.

And didn't know what I'd do with the rest,
until I needed a valance for a small window
and realized that some of these linens might work.

I'd show them on the window,
but my husband still has to put
trim around the window,
so it doesn't look so great yet.

The room these are going in,
is a very simplistic style room,
and nearly everything in it is vintage,
so I decided to keep them looking
simple by just threading them
through some cotton twine.

I love projects that don't require sewing -
especially projects that are so inexpensive!

I still have quite a few linens left
for more projects.
I wonder what they'll become?

Blessings,

I can frequently be found visiting these parties.

  2. Your valance is so cute. I made a vintage linen valance for over my kitchen sink from an old square tablecloth. Repurposing is such fun! Happy New Year!
