Can It Be?

 Can it be......a can?
Yes, it can!

Go raid your recycling bin to create
some of these super cheap, super wonderful
super easy containers.
I stayed up til the wee hours of the morning making mine -
I'm hooked!

As I've mentioned before, 

I have a stash of sheet music and antique magazines from the 1800's

and their aged look means anything I 

put them on will be gorgeous,

so I'm always looking for more things to cover.

These were cans that held cooked chicken meat,

but you could use soup cans, tuna cans - any cans!

Look at that stunning advertisement for a piano-forte!  

Piano forte, piano forte...

Doesn't that word just dance off your tongue?  

Now I feel the need for a Jane Austen and Mr. Darcy fix.

{edited to add - I called hubby and he brought home 

both Pride & Prejudice and Sense & Sensibility for me! 

My daughter and I sat down to watch S&S and I 

talked my 17yo son into watching it with us.  

He liked it more than he'll admit!}

 I digress...
These containers are a sweet & inexpensive way
to make your desk, craft table or vanity
more neat and tidy, while adding a touch of elegance.
Great for cotton balls, pencils, scissors,
cell phones, pocket change,
a candle holder, business cards, jewelry -
so many things!

Rust and pearls.....works for me!

 Because I was out of white spraypaint {shudder}
I lined the inside of the cans, instead of painting them.
Paint would have been much quicker,
but I like to see the paper inside as well as out.

 This artwork came from the covers off
the sheet music - is it amazingly gorgeous, or what?

 Just look at that detail!

 I made 4 cans and discovered that tracing around
the can and covering the inside bottom was
the smartest place to start.

 Glue it to the inside bottom of the can,
then coat it with more glue.

 Next, cover the outside of the can
and leave a little extra on the top to fold
over to the inside.

Coat it with more glue and let dry,

then add the ring around the inner

part of the can, which covers up your raw edges

and gives it a finished look.

Can you do it too?
Yes, you can!!!

No antique sheet music?
No problem - use book pages, wrapping paper,
newspapers (wouldn't these be cute with the funny pages?)
