There's something so bloomin' fun about taking a piece of furniture
that was just plain boring and breathing some life into it!
Such was the case with my latest project.
It was so non-descript and boring when I first got it,
but its shape is very sweet, so it had lots of potential.
I painted it with Olympic Smokey Slate
(which sounds greyish but is actually a pretty blue),
then added the bird silhouette to the corner.
I distressed it, then used Minwax clear wax to protect it.
Here are some of the details...
It's singing a new song now!

She's GORGEOUS...just LOVE the addition of the BIRD!!

I am a bit of a bird nut. My house is full of bird items. Love the color and the bird! It made my heart sing that's for sure!!
ReplyDeleteLove the chair redo! The color is so yummy! I would love to have you over for Treasure Hunt Thursday sometime!
ReplyDeletePERFECT!!!!
ReplyDeleteI have two chairs very similar to this one and have been debating what to do with them. You just solved my problem! Thanks for the inspiration.

Very pretty! Don't you hate painting spindles? I've been working on a dining set for months now- the spindles are killing me!
ReplyDeleteBettsi, I would hate painting spindles, but I bought a paint sprayer, which makes the job much easier!
ReplyDeleteSweet little chairs like this one are great to have around. I used to have one about this size in my bathroom--it looked great and was so convenient--the Mr. even sat in it to put his shoes on. The slight distressing is sooo good-it'll hide any future mishaps.
ReplyDeleteSoo cute~ I love it! The color is perfect and the darling little bird is charming! Thanks for sharing at FNF :)
ReplyDeleteI adore the fact that you stenciled on a chair.... So awesome! I recently used the same stencil :) Did you have any problems with it? Mine would NOT lie flat. I had to hand paint everything after tracing it. http://goose2maverick.blogspot.com/2011/07/disappointed-stencils.html
ReplyDeleteI think the bird addition really makes it unique. Good color choice too.
