So we started in the living room and yanked the foul stuff out. I felt like I needed to boil my body by the time we were done.
Conveniently, hubby works at Lowes, so he rented a floor sander. Okay...there is finally a photo coming...
This photo is actually the bedroom floor getting sanded, 'cuz I didn't take one of the living room.
They are mirror image rooms though - so just

We did the really tough spots with a palm sander. I know now why they call it a palm sander, 'cuz I felt like I sanded the skin off my palm by the time we were through. Remember now - we did TWO rooms.
Anyway - no pain no gain. It was worth it all (cue Chariots of Fire music).
Who knew this much wooden splendor was under the vermin infested carpet?
And who was the fool who covered it up to begin with?
